IBISKA Telecom is currently seeking a Telecommunications Cable Plant Designer(s).

General Knowledge:
(Must have good fundamentals in)

• Understanding of theory of telephony
• Transmission design parameters used in cable plant design work
• Up to date knowledge of standards and practices used for the design, installation and maintenance of inside/outside cable plant
• Different types of construction used for outside communications cable plants
• Cable plant supporting infrastructure design
• Materials and equipment used for communications cable plants
• Fiber optic technology
• Standards for technical drawings, sketches and schematics
• Testing techniques and practices
• Current safety standards, regulations and rules
• Project costing and budget management

Mandatory Requirements:

• Minimum of 24 months of demonstrated experience, within the last 5 years , technical designing, planning, and/or engineering cabling media and supporting infrastructure plus supporting the development of technical drawings and plans
• Canadian Citizen
• Be eligible for Govt of Canada security clearance

Desirables:

• Graduation from a three-year technologist diploma program offered by a recognized technical institute.
• Registration as a Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD)
• Hold a certificate for Premise Wiring Distribution System Design from a Telecommunication Manufacturing and Distribution Company
• Experience conducting impact assessments of technological developments and make recommendations to management
• Experience in presenting using PERT charts, networks diagrams and flow charts
• Experience Interpreting and evaluating acceptance test results
• Experiencing interpreting cable plant engineering drawings and specifications
• Complete cable plant management and design tasks
• Communicate by writing correspondence, technical reports and project directives
• Communicate orally by presenting briefings and lectures
• Use test equipment and ADP equipment
• Use of Computer Aided Design (CAD) software in production of technical designs
